Subject: [CWC Racing] Volunteers Needed to Help Win Over Amgen

Hello,
Judy Laverty (judy@gotahoenorth.com) contacted me and asked that any and all local cyclists show up for a brief film making adventure tomorrow morning and afternoon to help seal the deal with Amgen, bringing the Tour of CA through Tahoe in 2011.

This will be a short endeavor but cyclists are needed to be part of a video shoot that will be used as site submission materials for Amgen. If you are interested in participating, email judy@gotahoenorth.com. There will be two video shoots tomorrow, one at 8 a.m. meeting at the Cable Car at Squaw Valley, and another at 11 a.m. meeting at then Kings Beach Conference Center right on the water after you make the left turn onto Lake Shore Drive.

They need participants and it’s for fun cause. Please share this across your spandex network.

Timeshift Part I: Volunteering at Clips of Faith

Somebody rode my TT bike to the event but I’m cool w/ that.

Hanging w/ friends on a warm July evening in Truckee, parking cruisers,  seeing small town friends and drinking from a medley of awesome New Belgium brews (except Fat Tire to which I’ve never cottoned) – all as a volunteer to raise money for Truckee Trails Foundation?  Sounds too good to be true but it wasn’t.  False.  I mean, it was true.

See, lot of kinds of beers.  Most good.  A couple terrible.

Sure, this event happened over a month ago . . . so consider this a nod to our timeshifted society . . . speaking of time-shift I wish I could bottle some of this late summer weather and pull it out mid-January when we hit a funky cycle that ruins resort, bc and XC and I can’t get warm.  I guess this is why they invented places that are warm in the Summer, like SoCal.

Sam, MVP.

I digress.  This was a really cool event.  Hopefully next year it will be on a Saturday and publicity/attendance will be up.  Big props to New Belgium and fellow CWC Racing teammates Conrad, Jesse (and fianc?e Sam!), Matt and Forrest . . . and of course Truckee Trails Foundation and fellow board members and staff for giving a s— about local Trail advocacy, pedestrians and bikes and all things non-car, etc.  This stuff doesn’t just happen.

Dude your tri’s are on fire!

Trail Crew Wednesday at Waddle Ranch — No Crew Saturday

Hi Everyone,

Looks like the sun will return to shine on our Wednesday trail crew this week, where we have another trail building day at Waddle Ranch!    Interested volunteers should meet Crew Leader Bill Person at 4:15 on Wednesday  evening (September 1) at the first parking area on Martis Dam (or Creek) Road just off Hwy 267.  Please sign up at least 12 hours in advance at http://www.gooddirtyfun.org, e-mail myself or Bill directly (bill@billperson.org), or call 530-563-6867 if you plan to show up and/or you have any questions.

Please note we will not have a crew out on next Saturday (Labor day weekend).

Don’t forget plenty of water, sturdy boots, sunscreen, gloves, and all-evening happy hour at Cottonwood for Wednesday volunteers!

Thanks everyone!!

Allison
